Spanish ?
Q. I have to write a two page paper for my Spanish class. I am able to write on whatever topic I chose as long as its about either the language or culture or pertains to it somehow. Does anyone have any interesting ideas on what to write on? And by interesting I mean wont completely bore me to death. I have already written a previous paper about "The Day of the Dead," and that was about the only interesting topic I found. Any help please?

A. I'm always amazed when teachers expect students to write on topics that bore them. No writer on earth sits around writing about stuff that bores them! Why should you? So I applaud your teacher's willingness to let you write whatever you want. But... what interests you? You should start right there. Because the chances are really good that someone who speaks Spanish (like probably thousands of someones who speak Spanish) is also interested in that. And thanks to the Internet, you can research anything in just about any language. Here's an example: I'm guessing you might be considering going on to college. You may have thought about what you have to do to get into one, where you would attend, and what your life would be like while… [cont.]

What are some Spanish phrases to know when attending a Catholic Mass in Spanish?
Q. I've just started to attend Mass in Spanish to practice my Spanish! But there are some phrases and customs I don't know... I already know the Lord's Prayer in Spanish, and que la paz sea contigo, but what other phrases should I know that are common? Like in English there is a section where the priest lists several things to pray for, and in English we say "Lord hear our prayer". I don't know that in Spanish. Thanks!
